There’s nothing like a comedy to ease the tensions of daily life. For those looking to both indulge in laughter therapy and get their fill of eye-candy, When in Rome is the movie to watch. The plot ensures you’re constantly cracking at least a smile while Kristin Bell provides the latter.
Directed by Mark Steven Johnson, also known for Ghost Rider and Dare Devil, When in Rome does have what it takes to tickle your funny bone to the limit. The entertaining storyline is deliberately kept light and funny, and walks that road to perfection. Audiences who go with no higher expectations are guaranteed to enjoy it.
The plot revolves around Beth (Kristin Bell), a young woman who finds it especially hard to grab masculine attention. As a result, Beth is a stranger to love. When she’s invited to her sister’s out-of-the-blue wedding in Rome, Beth packs her bags and heads out.
Lo and behold, she catches sight of the man of her dreams, Nick (Josh Duhamel) in Rome, and starts dreaming about a future with him. Those dreams are short-lived though, and come to a crashing end when Beth spots Nick necking with another woman. As the saying goes, “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” Beth turns into a living testament of that wise adage.
In her rage, Beth finds herself picking up coins from the bottom of the legendary Fountain of Love. Surprisingly, all the coins she picks up come attached to men who find themselves irresistibly attracted to her.
