Percy Jackson: the Olympians the lightning thief” is a film adapted from the famous fantasy book series of the same name written by Rick Riordan. The film is one of the best of its kind and can probably be a memorable children movie after the Harry Potter series. Percy Jackson is the main protagonist. Like in Harry Potter we have learnt about Harry’s magical birth and his mysterious powers. Percy Jackson also transfers us to a world of Gods, mythical creatures, sea monsters and Olympus. Chris Columbus the director of Harry Potter fame, has directed “Percy Jackson: the Olympians: the lightning thief”. It is a scintillating saga of a young hero unraveling mysteries and relationships with the aid of his demi god friends.
Percy comes to know that he has a mythical origin. He is son of one of the “ Big Three” and thus keep on getting attacked by several other gods and monsters. Finally Percy is assured that he is the son of Poseidon. He realizes that he is a demi god and thus begins his adventure with his other demi god friends who are also keen to know about their origin and hidden powers. Percy’s life was sailing smoothly until one day his mother disappears mysteriously.
On the other hand, Zeus’ lightning bolt went missing and the main suspect was Percy. Because of his strange origin and human connection, the God’s began showing their wrath on this little child and his friends who accompany him on a journey to find out his mother and unravel the mysteries of his origin. The film has amazing visual and special effects. The blue rolling waves of the sea is sure to catch your fancy.
The illustrious star cast of the film includes Logan Lerman, Steve Coogan, Catherine Keener, Brandon T. Jackson, Jake Abel, Alexandra Daddario, Uma Thurman, Rosario Dawson and Pierce Brosnan. The actors tried their best in giving a wonderful performance. Rest, the story, screenplay, cinematography and background score are of extremely good quality as a result of which “Percy Jackson : the Olympians: the lightning thief” has turned out to be a fantastic movie.
The film is full of supernatural elements and references of ancient Greece come in the plot repeatedly. The kids will surely love the film for its visual delights. The role of Percy is well played by Lerman. So don’t miss it when it hit the theaters in February 2010.
